Instructions
-
Cook the Ground Beef:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
-
Assemble the Casserole:
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the crushed tortilla chips evenly in the bottom of the dish.
- Layer the seasoned beef mixture over the chips.
- Spread the salsa over the beef, followed by an even layer of sour cream.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
-
Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Serve:
- Let the casserole cool slightly, then top with your desired toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, olives, jalapeños, or cilantro.
-
Enjoy:
- Serve with extra tortilla chips on the side for scooping, or enjoy it as is!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add some diced jalapeños directly into the beef mixture.
- You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey for a lighter option.
- This dish can easily be doubled for a larger crowd.
