Instructions
1. Make the Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9×13-inch pan (or two 8-inch rounds).
In a large bowl, combine:
cake mix
orange soda / orange juice
vegetable oil
eggs
Mix with a hand mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes, until smooth.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake:
9×13 pan: 28–32 minutes
8-inch rounds: 25–28 minutes
Cake is done when a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool completely.
2. Make the Creamsicle Frosting
In a large chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Add the pudding mix and powdered sugar, then beat until thick and fluffy.
Mix in vanilla extract and optional orange zest.
For a stronger orange flavor, slowly add 1–3 tbsp of orange juice until desired taste/consistency is reached.
3. Assemble
Spread frosting over the cooled cake.
Chill for at least 30 minutes for the best texture.
Slice and serve!
