Old School Pizza Burgers

Instructions

1. Preheat & Brown

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.

2. Simmer the Filling

  • Return the beef mixture to the skillet. Stir in the pizza sauce, pepperoni, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3–5 minutes, until heated through.

3. Assemble

  • Place the split buns cut-side up on a baking sheet.

  • Spoon the warm beef mixture evenly onto the bottom halves of the buns. Top each generously with shredded mozzarella.

4. Bake

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bun edges are lightly toasted.

  • For crispier buns, you can toast the tops separately in the oven for the last 3–4 minutes, if desired.

5. Serve & Enjoy

  • Remove from the oven, top with the remaining bun halves, and serve hot.

Tips & Topping Ideas

  • Make It Your Own: Add sliced olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, or extra pepperoni before baking.

  • Kid-Friendly: Use mini slider buns for fun, portion-sized servings.

  • Freezer-Friendly: Prepare the filling ahead and freeze; thaw, assemble, and bake when ready.

  • For a Crispier Bite: Brush the buns lightly with garlic butter before adding the filling.

Happy cooking—and even happier eating! 🍔🍕
