Instructions
- Prepare the Cake
- Bake the chocolate cake according to package directions.
- Let it cool completely (very important).
- Slice the cake horizontally to create two even layers.
- Layer One
- Place the bottom cake layer into a springform pan or baking dish lined with plastic wrap.
- Spread half of the softened vanilla ice cream evenly over the cake.
- Freeze for 20–30 minutes until firm.
- Add the Fudge
- Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly so it’s pourable.
- Pour evenly over the frozen ice cream layer.
- Freeze again for 15–20 minutes.
- Layer Two
- Spread the remaining vanilla ice cream over the fudge layer.
- Place the second cake layer on top and gently press down.
- Final Freeze
- Cover tightly and freeze for at least 4–6 hours, preferably overnight.
- Serve
- Remove from freezer 10 minutes before slicing.
- Top with whipped cream and your favorite toppings.
- Drizzle with extra hot fudge just before serving.
