Following two deaths from listeriosis, an urgent nationwide recall has been issued for cheeses from this source.

This revelation immediately triggered alarm bells in the country’s food distribution channels. The cheese aisles of our supermarkets are gradually being emptied of dozens of suspect products. Brie, Camembert, Coulommiers, Carré Frais, Double Crème: a whole range of cheeses from the same company has been subject to a precautionary recall from major retailers like Leclerc, Auchan, Carrefour, and others.

This large-scale operation demonstrates the seriousness of the situation. Consumers who have purchased these cheeses are therefore formally urged not to consume them.

Increased vigilance

Faced with this crisis, health authorities are calling for increased vigilance. Consumers should systematically check the references of recently purchased cheeses and regularly consult recall.conso.gouv.fr to monitor the status of recalls.

The consumer association Foodwatch denounced an ” avoidable health scandal “ and pointed to failings in the company’s food safety controls. ” It should therefore have taken the necessary hygiene measures and ensured that it did not market products that exposed consumers to a health hazard ,” it said.
