Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) ground chicken or turkey (or beef)
1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
For the Creamy Sauce
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1½ cups milk
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, mix ground meat, spinach, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until combined.
Shape into medium-sized meatballs and place them on a baking tray lined with foil.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until slightly golden.
Meanwhile, prepare the creamy sauce.
Melt butter in a saucepan, then add flour and stir for 1 minute.
Slowly pour in milk and cream while whisking until smooth.
Add Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until thick and creamy.
Pour the sauce into a baking dish, add the baked meatballs, and top with shredded mozzarella.
Bake again for 10–15 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
How to Make
Combine all meatball ingredients and shape them evenly.
Bake the meatballs until cooked through and lightly browned.
Prepare the creamy sauce separately by mixing butter, flour, milk, and cheese until smooth.
Layer the sauce and meatballs in a baking dish, then top with cheese.
Bake until bubbly and golden, then serve hot with rice, pasta, or bread.
